The Midland Metro to Wolverhampton.

Midland Metro.

Midland Metro in Wolverhampton.

Running down the central reservation!

Also known as a tram, although not in the historic sense! Another once fashionable term was “Rapid Light Transit”. These units connect Wolverhampton and Birmingham running largely along the former Great Western main railway line providing a frequent and fast service between the two cities. But, rather than utilising the old Wolverhampton Low Level station, the Midland Metro joins the Bilston Road to terminate in the city centre.

Here, the trams then go across the centre of an elevated roundabout, having run between the carriageways from the Royal station. The exposure is deliberately slow to capture the essence of movement.
