Cruising Down the Wolverhampton 21

One down, 20 to go.

It’s been a while since I’ve managed to get a shot of a narrow boat on the move. I just happened to notice this one in the top lock as I was setting out on the morning dog walk. Little’s Lane Bridge, a Grade II Listed Structure, carries Lock Street over the canal at this point. For boaters who have spent some time on the BCN, especially those who came up the Aston and Farmer’s Bridge flights, the twin bottom gates on the Wolverhampton 21 come as something of a surprise.

The flight, which is about 2 miles in length, takes boaters down from the BCN onto the Staffs and Worcester Canal at Aldersley Junction. From there, turn left for Worcester, or right to Autherley Junction for the Shropshire Union Canal or carry on to the next unction at Great Haywood. Although a lovely bright sunny morning, this part was quite shaded, so I had to increase the ISO surprisingly high.
