Tim's One Photograph a Day

Cambrian Wharf at Night, Birmingham.

Cambrian Wharf, Birmingham. Reflections at night.

Reflections in the canal basin at Night with tower blocks and the Library of Birmingham in the distance.

As 2020 starts, I feel a desire to restart this project. So, after a 2 year break, this is the first photograph of the new “One Photograph a Day”. I have decided to restart with something pretty much typical of my favourite type of shot. A night time long exposure based around the canals. As it happens, we are back in Birmingham, so I am starting with a shot taken around the canal network in the City Centre with Cambrian Wharf at night. This is a stub from where a couple of arms went further into the city centre. To the left can been seen the top lock of the Farmer’s Bridge flight. This is the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal, whereas Cambrian Wharf and the canal leading into it is part of the BCN (Birmingham Canal Navigations) which celebrated their 250th year anniversary this year.

Note the little cameo of the modern Library of Birmingham, where one of the arms headed, peeking through in the distance!
