The Swan, Thatcham.
Lots of character at this old pub. Now a modern day chain pub/restaurant. The Swan, Thatcham, is a good mix of old and new.
Although we are back in Newbury, this place is near where we were moored last week in Thatcham! We had arranged to meet up with our eldest daughter and husband for a meal. However, at the last minute, I was asked to drive the Bus of Hope.
Friday nights the bus goes to Thatcham. I wasn’t needed other than to drive, so we went as a family then walked down to the pub. We enjoyed a very nice meal there.
The main part of the Swan, Thatcham, is extensive. There is also a massive beer garden at the front – only a small part of which can be seen in the photograph.
On the right is the old stable block. This has now been converted into accommodation. The pub’s location is slightly unusual for a coaching inn, as it is not situated on a main road. There is little documented on the pub on the internet.
It seemed appropriate to capture an image as a memory of today’s visit.
