Tim's One Photograph a Day

Former Wharf on the Dudley No 1 Canal.

This is similar to a previous shot, for which I make no apology. That was daytime, this is night-time. The tranquil scene is a far cry from its industrial past. Originally, the canal line would have carried straight on, where the steps can just be seen on the left, to join the Old Main Line. The arm directly in front of the camera heads off towards the Dudley Tunnel. But now, it is part of the Black Country Living Museum, hosting a collection of old working boats.

The wooden caravan is an old “Gospel Car”, from which a preacher would have conducted his mission amongst the canal community.
