Tim's One Photograph a Day

Mute Swan on the Canal.

Mute Swan

Glorious and majestic.

One of the joys of living on the canals is the wildlife we get to see. Even in city centres, there can be a constant stream of “visitors” swimming along. Quite often, we can hear pecking noises as ducks and the like feed off the algae growing around the water line of the boat. Others know where there is a window, there could be food. They are certainly not avers to begging – just like this Mute Swan.Today’s weather wasn’t great – conditions were fairly dark even mid morning when this shot was taken. Often, it’s just a case of grabbing the opportunity of a quick shot. So a very slow exposure for hand-hand and a moving bird! Plus, wide open lens gives a very short focal length. Fortunate that this shot has come out as well as it has.
