Swimming Pool.
Ask and ye shall receive! Looking at the reflections in our hotel swimming pool, and having seen the online and promotional photographs that the hotel uses, I wanted to have a go myself!
I therefore plucked up the courage to ask if I could come down just as they closed to take some photographs in the swimming pool. (Obviously, it was going to be a non-starter whilst people were in it!).
My request was, much to my surprise, met with a positive response. At the allotted time, I arrived with my camera (and tripod). The staff checked the coast (well, poolside) was clear, and I had the place to myself.
Of course, the first thing that happened was the lens steamed up. I cleaned it off, took a test shot, and cleaned it again! Happy with the angle and exposure, I then fired off some more. Next, I changed to the wide angle lens, which was clear when I put it on the camera, but it steamed up during the exposure.
Once this lens had settled down, I took a few more shots, including some at different angles, and some from the other end of the swimming pool. It was hard to choose which one to use, but I finally picked this image, with the striking feature at the far end (the poolside showers) producing a strong reflection in the water. The shot has been given a little bit of HDR treatment to strengthen the colours and clarity.
