Motorway Service Stations are invariably hubs of activity. Nestled between the M4 and A34, Chieveley Services is no exception.

As can be seen, there is quite an array of coaches. Taken at lunchtime, this would be why many of them would be stopping. I noticed the cream of an Excelsior Coach, a brand I am very familiar with from my days in Bournemouth. I also spotted an Overland Coach from Worthing, whose driver I know! We had chance for a catch up.

Chieveley Services is a fairly typical service station, although rather than straddling the motorway, it is in a separate location within the A34/M4 junction complex.

It also has one of the most expensive petrol filling stations. These places are notorious for their excessive pricing, but this one should win a prize. Compared to the cheapest in the area (unusually, a small independent, rather than a supermarket), it is at least 20p a litre dearer!

With the weather not being particularly bright, and the services themselves somewhat drab, I decided to give this shot some HDR treatment. This has given it an almost painting-like appearance. I feel this style works extremely well in this instance, livening up an otherwise flat image.
