Selling the Big Issue in Newbury.
Every town has them. The Big Issue sellers. Definitely made famous by the film “Street Cat Named Bob”! This lady’s regular spot is on the Newbury Town bridge – a lovely spot for watching the canal boats go by.
I have seen her here on and off over the last couple of years we have been in Newbury. When I was working in Brighton, there was a cheery young man outside the station. Always a “Good Morning” and a big smile, whether you purchased or not.
This shot captures something of the essence of being a Big Issue Vendor. People going by about their daily business. Without a thought for those less fortunate than themselves. Not necessarily out of any malice. Everyone is too busy with their own lives.
Once again, this photograph has been given HDR treatment. Gives it something of a timeless quality – enhanced by the paved roadway. The high ISO was not deliberate. I had taken some interior shots earlier in the day, and forgot to reset it. I should have twigged from the other settings. However, this camera does produce excellent results at these higher ISO levels.
