Thatcham Visitor Moorings: Dusk and the Blue Hour.

Dusk and the Blue Hour.

It is very similar to the shot The Mission on the Canal. However, tonight’s image of the Thatcham Visitor Moorings is much more about the “Blue Hour”.

I was struck by the intensity of the blue in the sky. The new moon. The reflections. A perfect vision of tranquillity.

As you have probably gathered by now, this is my favourite kind of photograph. The camera sees so much more than the naked eye. With a bit of tweaking in Photoshop, the shadows can be balanced with the highlights, and the sheer beauty of God’s creation comes to life.

A passing train under the unconnected overhead power lines shows as a couple of white stripes. The colours in the trees are revealed. The deep blue is something that can only be seen between sundown and darkness.

The long exposure creates a tranquil scene. The water is completely smooth, the blue so intense.
