Early Morning Mist.
Clear sky overnight led to this beautiful blue and morning mist first thing. One of the benefits of getting up early is being able to photograph this!
The air was crisp, and the mist swirling up from the canal was just wonderful to see. The tops of the boats were covered in frost.
It is always interesting photographing straight into the sun. One of the rules of photography is not to do that! Sometimes, however, it can produce a dramatic shot.
The low angle here concentrates on the reflections. The morning mist can only really be seen in the darker parts. A little earlier, and there might have been more.
The image conveys a wonderful sense of peace. A low ISO for colour saturation, and a fairly small aperture for depth of field. Looking into the sun gives a very short shutter speed – freezing what little movement there was.
