Worthing Pier.

Low tide reflections.

Down in Worthing today, and back to probably the most photographed location in the town: Worthing Pier. Because of other commitments, this was the earliest I could get to the beach.

I missed what had been a reasonable sunset. However, the lighting at this point is quite something. The tide was low, although not as low as it can be. It does go out past the end of the pier.

This gave the opportunity to get out a fair way. I picked a spot where I could get a good balance between the effective sky, and the rough beach. The combination of stones, sand and water is very striking in this lighting. There are some splashes of colour where the lights from the pier are reflecting.

I took several shots. A similar one to this, but with Worthing Pier lower in the picture, giving more sky. A couple of wider angles, one including the whole pier. I chose this one, because the interest created in the foreground creates a great lead-in to the pier. With this angle, only featuring a section of the pier makes it stand out more. I am very pleased with the balance between beach, pier and sky in this shot.
