Wild Foxglove: Purple Beauty.

Purple Beauty.

Something a little different today. We are moored up near Invergarry. We are alongside the former railway to Fort Augustus. Walking along the trackbed, I came across these Wild Foxgloves.

My first interest is, of course, the former railway. Especially as at least a section of it is being restored. However, at the moment there is little to photograph, although I have taken a number of shots for myself!

A short way from the old station was quite a large patch of Wild Foxgloves. All of them only had blooms at the top. I am no expert with flowers, but I suspect the lower blooms have died off.

I put the telephoto lens on, so with a wide aperture I could blur the background. As it was quite dark (well shaded by trees), I needed to increase the ISO, as I wanted a fairly fast shutter speed to counteract the slight movement due to the breeze.

Being able to zoom in, I have captured the flowers at the top. Taking the shot in portrait fills the frame with the maximum number of blooms.
