Blue Ball Inn, Kintbury: Lovely Village Pub.

Lovely Village Pub.

Probably the most well known pub in Kintbury is the canalside Dundas Arms. However, it is well worth taking the short walk up into the village, to the Blue Ball Inn.

Being more off the beaten track, it is much more reasonably priced. Behind the pub is a huge garden area. Inside, it is very much like a traditional old-fashioned village pub.

It has oodles of character, and a timeless exterior. It is also famous for its pizzas. Legend has it that there were highwayman tunnels between the Blue Ball Inn and the nearby church.

The pub also has a claim to fame as being the headquarters of the agricultural disturbances of the early 19th Century. Records show the pub dates back until at least 1830, when the publican was Ann Heath.
