Tim's One Photograph a Day

Raindrops as an Abstract.

Raindrops.

Raindrops: Focusing on Water Droplets.

Focusing on Water Droplets.

Normally, when we look through a window when it is raining, we still focus on what is outside. With the camera, however, you can focus on the raindrops themselves.

Doing this, depending on what is on the other side of the glass, you can create some interesting effects. Today’s photograph is taken looking through the front window of our boat.

I have focused the camera on the window, which has thrown the background out of focus. This creates the interesting effect of having a natural foreground, but an abstract background.

In front of our boat was another boat. Because this is now abstract, I have simply boosted the colours to enhance them and, therefore, the abstract effect.

Which just goes to show. Even on a grey and rainy day, there are still photographs out there. You just have to spot the opportunities (if you’ll pardon the pun!).
