Macro Photography: Computer keyboard close-up.

Computer Keyboard Close-up.

Going very different today. Some time ago, I treated myself to a set of Macro Extension Tubes. However, when I went to use them, then didn’t lock into place. They therefore languished in their box in disgrace!

However, this only made them difficult to use, not impossible. Macro photography is something that I enjoy, because you can get to see detail that you would not otherwise see.

Having not had much chance to do any other photography today, I decided to dust down the tubes, and see what I could achieve. My first surprise was that when I fitted the tubes onto the camera – they locked! It was a different camera before, so all I can think is that there must have been some very slight difference in the fitting. Still, I am not complaining!

From past experience, with the very short depth of field with macro photography, the first job was to put the camera on the tripod. Next, was to choose a suitable subject. My laptop being handy, I decided on the keyboard.

The shot has picked up all sorts of detail not visible to the naked eye. Not least, the hair that appears above the “6” key! That has now been removed with the aid of tweezers. The other bits of fluff are also not visible normally.

Now I’ve discovered the extension tubes do work properly, I suspect I will do some more exciting macro photography soon. Maybe I should start a close-up competition? Identify the item!
