Beach Huts: Colourful line up on Bournemouth Promendae.

We had an appointment in Bournemouth today, so my target was in the town somewhere. I already had an idea and, indeed, took that photograph. However, wandering along the beach later, conditions were ideal to capture a shot of the beach huts on Bournemouth beach.

Compared to some areas of the country, this is quite a motley collection. Little more than converted garden sheds. And small ones at that. Some look as though one more of these named storms hitting the coast will finish them off!

There was quite a low sun today, but a surprising amount of blue sky just at the time we were on the beach. A few people were enjoying a stroll along the prom. However, there was quite a brisk, cold wind blowing, putting off all but the most hardy.

I took a low angle on these beach huts, getting quite close in to emphasis the length of the line up. The line of sand (which has formed along the kerb separating the huts from the roadway) draws the eye simultaneously to the focal point, like a converging railway line.

The beach sets the scene almost unnoticed on the right, with the pier seemingly extending out to see from the point of convergence.
