Tim's One Photograph a Day

Having been busy most of the day doing some other website work, time was running out to get today’s photo. I am still determined not to resort to “stock” photos unless I really have to!

Eating out this evening, I started to get a few ideas of things to photograph. I hadn’t brought the big camera, but thought I would put the phone through its paces again.

Looking at the lemonade glass on the table, I could see the possibility here. The rich wood of the table, bathed in the tungsten lighting, begged to be photographed.

Using the phone, of course, there is no option on focal length. The lens is fixed. So, the scene had to be created around the glass. This is when you realise just how much of a wide angle the lens is! However, I managed to move the glass around and clear the table enough to create a reasonable view.

Back at the laptop, loading the image of the lemonade glass in to Photoshop, I was playing with the colour balance to see what effect looked best. Just out of interest, I converted it into monochrome, and preferred the result. A little bit of tweaking with the colour channels, and I produced an image I am happy with.
