I was invited by our daughter to take some photographs at her friend’s daughter’s first birthday. Naturally, I have ended up with a few photographs to choose from today!

It seemed only right to choose a photo with our youngest daughter and our granddaughter in. Out daughter had asked for a group portrait with the birthday girl and her mum. This is my favourite of the shots I took of them.

Nice, happy faces, and a wonderful memory of the day. With children, of course, you get what you get. Parties can get a little fraught. Over excitement can easily get the better of everyone – including the children!

Indoors isn’t always the best place to take a group portrait either – there is a lot of background clutter. But, the subjects fill enough of the screen to counter this distraction. Anyway, this is an informal shot. One for the family albums!
