Tim's One Photograph a Day

A View of the Kintbury Visitor Moorings, Kennet & Avon Canal.

Kintbury Visitor Moorings: Looking across the canal.

Looking across the canal.

Needing to top up with water (and empty a toilet cassette!), I took a trip to Kintbury Visitor Moorings. I emptied the cassette, and then filled up the Aquaroll with fresh water.

I crossed over the lock to get this view. The sun was fairly low, and I was looking almost straight into it. This rather desaturated the colours, making a rather dull photograph.

Therefore, I looked at the effects available in “Nik Collection”. This one is “Pale and Structured”. I have used this before, as it is one of my favourites.

It gives an almost monochrome effect, striking in appearance. But, there is still some colour there. The effect is great in itself, but it also gives an “Olde Worlde” feel to the image, making it almost timeless.

Although very close to Newbury, this location is quite different. It is a small village. The railway here is directly alongside Kintbury visitor moorings. It is here that the horse-drawn canal boat runs.
